Why did the chicken cross the road?

Aaargh!!! yep, darn right it is an irritating question.... simply cos it has no answer!!

Have you ever wondered,

Why People stand in groups of 4- a zillion right next to the elevator???  Wonder why they decide to hold a family conference right there and try solving the world issues and bring about world peace?

Why Some brainboxes will get off the escalator and stand there as if something is gonna come scoop them off their feet and fly them to their destination.. Which am sure they have no clues off.. I go to Citi center and i see this sight welcoming ahead of me oh so often.. Makes me wanna ask them - are you waiting for the magic carpet??

The other hand i see a lot of eager shoppers standing near the foot of the escalator and staring at it, like as if it is a giant dragon thats gonna swallow them up.. They wont move, they wont get on it nor will they realise there are others waiting to get a free ride on the damned thing!! Sometimes i feel sorry for them [cos i too have been through that] and will tell them -just hop on, no worries!! Other times, i see them and am like-Duh!! move i t already!! :P

At weddings, the welcoming committee waiting to greet new visitors, while the ones who've come earlier are still standing there!!  They are busy saying HI Hellow to all the familiar faces and then busy scanning the hall to see who they know, and where to steer themselves... hehe...

Sale @landmark, where the crowds are more at the Bill counter than the aisles.. jeez, people, its a Sale, not "take what you can" kinda deal!! You'd think they'd show consideretion to other poor souls, aka Me and my friends!!  And at times, you'll see one soul standing in queue, while others- either family or friends going aroudn the store, doing their own leaisurely shopping, coming back to the soul at the bill counter and dumping it into the bag!!! Do you know there are others beside you waiting in line?? Move it.. move it...

Some stores where the saleswoman have been instructed to announce the price first and then show the products... happens in kidswear, sarees and basically every other store you can think off.. Pisses me off, cos i aint bothered about the price, i wanna buy good stufff. The minute they start -" these are 500Rs madam, you want to see?,Shall i show"  i am tempted to say - NO i am here for the 1Re stuff, just show me those...:D

When i take Floppy out for a walk, rather he is taking me for a run... there are some walkers who will stop, stare and then go "Aww, how cute, is he yours?".. To them, i wanna say "Ahem...Lady/Sir- do i look like the kind to steal my neighbors dog and take it for a walk in the morning?? Am i freaking crazy??"

Am the kind who loves watching movies, so much so that unless the movie is horrible i sit till the last of the credits are done with before scooting... I hate it when people walk down the aisle, and suddenly just freeze when they see credits rolling or a song playing, or bloopers being screening around then... H"ello, move your a$$es people, there are others who are sitting patiently so they can enjoy these very scenes!! They aint stupid you know!!!"

Kuri josiyam ladies at Elliots beach wandering up and down.. and its like magic, everytime one comes near me , they chirp - "Sridevi, magarasi, unakku josiyam sollatumada kannu? Naan sonnathu nijamna paisa kudu" [translation- blessed girl, shall i predict your past, present and future? if you think i'm telling the truth, you cpay me"]!!! and i fell for this once!! but what she said was quite stunning!!! 2other friends - M  & V, who were with me had a good laugh!!! ;)

Got more of these? add on...............

Live it up!!!

Ever since i read this quote, i fell in love with Erma Bombeck's words... did some digging, and read about her, her life, and all that she went thru... An Amazing woman i must say....You can read more from her here
“There are people who put their dreams in a little box and say, "Yes, I've got dreams, of course I've got dreams." Then they put the box away and bring it out once in awhile to look in it, and yep, they're still there.”

Here is something i found on the net awhile ago, and truly believe in... which is why the title of this post is is "LIVE IT UP"!!!

by Erma Bombeck

  ------***----- ------***----- ------***----- ------***-----

I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and
worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day
because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it
melted in storage.

I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about
grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television
-and more while watching life.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the
earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical,
wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished
every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the
only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now
go get washed up for dinner."

There would have been more "I love you's".. More "I'm sorrys" ...
but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...
look at it and really see it ... live it...and never give it back.

Sylvia does not like Upma

No, that is not the title to my upcoming book!!
Neither is it my new name!! :D

Read on to know more...

Last week i got the chance to visit the Adaikalam, run by BANYAN. [For those who are not aware of what or who BANYAN, you can click here  as well...]

It is basically a shelter for destitute women... some of whom are brought in from the streets, while others are sent away from homes... The place today is home to nearly 220 such women, most of whom are above 50,60yrs of age!!  As you walk in, the sight of these women walking about, some in a daze, others look at you and smile , some stand and stare.. it is quite disturbing, but i was happy to hear from Betty, Project coordinator that most of them are rehabilitated and sent home to their families. And if there are any who have completely lost their mind, have no clues who they are, where their families are, not possible to do any work, they are sent to Banyan Shelter in Kovalam village, Kancheepuram- BALM...

Most of the women here are given Vocational training - make bags, and other products, sell them at their mini store at the center or other Banyan offices.. These women are paid Salary for the work they do, this way they have a nest egg when they go back home and something to keep them going.. standing on their own feet... :)

ok... now for the Sylvia part of the story...  Betty was showing me around the place, we went to the various floors, i was getting a quick tour of the place, how it worked and so on... As we stood at the landing in the top most floor, i felt a poke on my shoulder.. I turned to see an aged lady smiling and looking at me shy.. like she wanted to say something but was holding herself back.. Betty probed asking her to ask my name and here is what followed... :)

Sylvia - shall be ref to as S hereforth !!!

S: What is your name dear?

Me: Aarti

S: I am Sylvia...
You coming from nearby or far away??

Me: No, I dont live close by!

Sylvia: Are you coming here 1st time dear?

Me: yes!!

[few mins of Silence... while Betty and i were chatting up about the other isolation cell on the other side of the wall...Sylvia continued standing next to me... ]

Me: So, Sylvia, did you have breakfast?

S: No dear, i dont like Upma..

Me: Oh, wont you be hungry? what will you eat?

S: [big grin] I will go to Srinivas stores, buy bread butter and jam and eat..
Next time shall keep some for you...

Me: Aww, thank you!!
What does your Betty like?

S: Madam likes only Chicken 65 [ followed by a giggle] :)

Me: Aahhh!!
Betty: *Blushing*

S: Do you eat Non veg or veg dear?

Me: Am veg!

S: Aah, are you brahmin?

Me: yes!!! :)

S: My husband was a Brahmin.. he worked at St Martha's hospital....
You know what he did.....  he brot home another woman and made her his wife... Threw me out of the house... .. [ she just drifted off, almost like she was talking to herself]..

I Felt so bad for her!!! am sure each of those ladies have a story behind them!!!  Left there praying they all find some happiness for the remaining years and hopefully none of us end up like that!!

Everyday say a prayer or a word of Thanks to the Man up there for giving us what we have... We should all feel so blessed and Thankful!! Crib less .... :)

Forward ahead...

Got this on email from a website and thot why not.... Lets give a few laughs to help you all have a fun Thursday!! :)

On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence.

One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out  Of sight, and began dividing the nuts. "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me," said one boy. Several dropped and rolled down toward the fence.

Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me." He just knew what it was. He jumped back on his bike and rode off. Just around the bend he met an old man with a cane, hobbling along. "Come here quick," said the boy, "you won't believe what I heard!" "Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls."

The man said, "Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to walk." When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled slowly to the cemetery. Standing by the fence they heard, "One for you, one for me, One for you, one for me."

The old man whispered, "Boy, you've been tellin' me the truth." "Let's see if we can see the Lord.

" Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see anything.

The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the Lord.

At last they heard, "One for you, one for me . . . That's all. Now let's go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done."

They say the old man made it back to town a full 5 minutes ahead of the kid on the Bike.........!!

Today's been a quiet day... not much of work, and the meeting i thought i had today has been postponed to Thursday!! Looks like God knew i need a break from work!! Oh, and its been raining here, past 2days, strangely though it rains only post midnight... think the Man up there needs to check his watch!! ;)

Am looking fwd to the coming few days, next week and end of this month...

There are three kinds of people around me... here is how i choose to categories them...

1. if you feel like asking me why
idea, then you dont know me enuf,

2. if you know bits and pieces of the answer, thentwistedtwisted be happy and

3. if you start smiling reading my statement, Hugsss!!

Ok, now onto some business matter...!! Made a new friend in the blogworld..Senor Gils and you know what he has done? Tagged me!! Grrr!!! cool

Here goes... [ hmmm, think i need to do this in tamil, but am gonna go head do it in English!! rolleyesrolleyesDont want to be sitting and translating for all you non tamil understanding peepals..see how sweet and considerate i am?!! surprised]

Is beauty permanent?
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?" .... So, stop asking, ofcourse beauty is permanent.. such a naansense queshtion!!! :)

Is love important to human being?
Duh!! How much more stupider can you get? do you have brains? or did that fall out when you came into the world.. Love is what has us all smiling, grinning, crying, excited, disturbed, suicidal [not me, but am there's a whole bunch of you out there feeling that!!! ]... What would we do without love??? be bored out of my minds!!!

Does God exist? The Man up there right? Oh yes, He does!! we need someone to blame all our mistakes, goof ups, crack jobs happening in the world on...

Is money important? Depends on what you need it for? --if its for a bday gift for me, then yes, you need it.. --if you wanna show me how much you care about me, yes you do --and if you wanna show the world how much it means to you, then also you need money!![you'll need some to get something for me, and rest of it you can donate to the world!!! ] biggrin

Am not gonn tag nobody.. if you feel like doing it, go ahead!! [see, more sweetness!!!]razz

Oh and HAPPY ONAM to all!!biggrin biggrin
