September Tag- Day 30- In Motion

Sigh... And so with this the Tag comes to end and so does the month of September... 9 months of 2011 are over and we just have 3 more left before 2012 comes knocking on the door..!! So much to do, so many places to see, just not fair!!

I quite like the theme for the day- In Motion.. Kinda gives me hope that as we keep moving, so will our dreams and thereon our lives... Maybe this is how its meant to be.. Keep going... Keep at it till you succeed/ reach your goals/ reach for the stars...

The image i have for this theme is one that was taken in Pondy during my visit last year.. We were walking along the ocean when the sound from the waves thrashing against the rocks stopped us in our tracks..

Like the waves, i wish to keep flowing...
Like the waves, i wish to keep aspiring for greater heights..
Like the waves, i wish to keep going no matter what challenges come my way!

Thanks Ratzzz for initiating this tag amidst our group... Felt bad when your Camera conked, but do hope you get to do this tag soon!!

September Tag- Day 28- Daily Routine

I open blogger to write the post and that is when it hits me that September is nearly over, just 2 days to go.. Sigh!! 9 months of this year is over... :-/

The theme for the day is "Daily routine"... i dint have to blink, i knew what i was going to post... Ever since i moved into my grandparents home [11years ago], i found the chime that has been a part of my childhood and during the growing up years as well. I brought it out, and hung  it on the cupboard.

So, now every morning, i wake up, pull the string, let the music play, listen to it, enjoy it and then get out of the room... :-) a perfect start to the day... In case i miss it, the morning does go for a toss, i know, i know, am probably just connecting random dots, but what the heck.... :D

This chime was bought by Granpa when i was a baby from one of his international trips...

September Tag- Day 27- After dark

Ooh, i like the sound of the theme for the day- After Dark... I wonder what i can post for this topic, my mind is running in so many different directions, wondering what to make of it, what not to and what image i have that matches with the thoughts in my head!!  So here goes, the one photograph i liked that best suited the topic.... :-)

I shot this photograph  at a mall in the city- Citi Center. On the top floor is the movie theater and just below the staircase is a big hall where exhibitions are held through the year. There is a huge window with this stained glass work on it.. I shot this snap as i waited for the movie... Infact it was taken on my mobile-Blackberry Curve 8520 :-)

September Tag- Day 26- Something Old

Well, its been a crazy morning..Was to have packed and been away on a mini holiday, alas, Mister Murphy seems to have had other things in mind... The trip is cancelled and i am still in town, but the day's been relatively easy... :-)

The theme for the day is "Something old"... now, that is a phrase that is so open to interpretation... I guess it gives us free reign to think what we want and post a photograph that fits our thoughts.. Here goes my photograph for the theme-

Even though this chain has been through time and is quite old, it is still used at home and the colours caught my eye... So much beauty...

September Tag- day 25- Sunflare

1st its Sunset, then it is Sunflare... But then, its fun everyday... There is something to look forward to, and something to dig around :D

I kept wondering what a sunflare was... Was it a sudden burst of sunlight or something beyond? Here is what the dictionary had to say-

solar flare
A sudden eruption of magnetic energy released on or near the surface of the sun, usually associated with sunspots and accompanied by bursts of electromagnetic radiation and particles. Ultraviolet and x-ray radiation from solar flares often induce electromagnetic disturbances in the earth's atmosphere.

Does this fit?

Firework- Katy perry

For some reason, i liked this song the minute i heard it... So, here i am sharing it!!

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag,
drifting through the wind
wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
like a house of cards,
one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep?
6 feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe your reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through-ough-ough

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon....

September Tag- Day 24- A smile

A smile- this is the topic for the day... And i kept looking through the photographs i had taken for that one special picture, alas, no luck yet!! Instead i did come across this photograph of the cute figurine at Tuscana, Chamiers Road in Chennai....

As you open the door to the restaurant, he is the guy who greets you... And  it instantly brings a smile to the face!

September Tag- Day 23- Sunset

Looks like the person who created the tag ran out of topics... or decided to have some fun and jazz it up a bit!  I wish they had put in something like "funny incident", "your pet", "quirkiest self shot","candid shot of someone close to you doing something embarassing" etc... :D [i know, i know.. am evil!!]

Ok, so the topic for the day is ... Sunset... Now, what can be more beautiful than witnessing a sunset on a beach alone? Witnessing it with someone you love perhaps?! But then, i was fortunate enough to experience the former..

I was in Goa, about 2years ago and was done with the North Goa tour, with the last stop being Calangute Beach..

The beach was crowded, not an inch was spared till a few kms ahead, and i enjoyed the walk, lost in my thoughts. There were paragliders, jetskis, and many other boats that were giving the tourists a run for their money... The only thing i saw was the beautiful sunset and the ocean glimmering in the evening sky... Was beautiful, but i was dead tired and the day had been long.. it wasnt until i started walking back to the car park that i noticed how far i had actually walked..

On the next day, i had booked myself on a South Goa tour that ended in the amazing Mandovi River cruise in Panjim.. Good music, a drink in my hand, i was all set to enjoy the hour long cruise...  This was yet another beautiful sunset...

Off i go to dream some more of Goa and the peace n quiet i experienced there!!

A mother's love- True Story!

I came upon this on Facebook and had to share it with my readers...

This is a true story of Mother’s Sacrifice during the Japan Earthquake.
After the Earthquake had subsided, when the rescuers reached the ruins of a young woman’s house, they saw her dead body through the cracks.

But her pose was somehow strange that she knelt on her knees like a person was worshiping; her body was leaning forward, and her two hands were supporting by an object.
The collapsed house had crashed her back and her head.

With so many difficulties, the leader of the rescuer team put his hand through a narrow gap on the wall to reach the woman’s body. He was hoping that this woman could be still alive. However, the cold and stiff body told him that she had passed away for sure.

He and the rest of the team left this house and were going to search the next collapsed building. For some reasons, the team leader was driven by a compelling force to go back to the ruin house of the dead woman. Again, he knelt down and used his had through the narrow cracks to search the little space under the dead body. Suddenly, he screamed with excitement,” A child! There is a child! “

The whole team worked together; carefully they removed the piles of ruined objects around the dead woman. There was a 3 months old little boy wrapped in a flowery blanket under his mother’s dead body. Obviously, the woman had made an ultimate sacrifice for saving her son. When her house was falling, she used her body to make a cover to protect her son. The little boy was still sleeping peacefully when the team leader picked him up.

The medical doctor came quickly to exam the little boy. After he opened the blanket, he saw a cell phone inside the blanket. There was a text message on the screen. It said,” If you can survive, you must remember that I love you.” This cell phone was passing around from one hand to another. Every body that read the message wept. ” If you can survive, you must remember that I love you.” Such is the mother’s love for her child!!

September Tag- Day 22- Trees

Sigh... the days seem to be going by too fast for my liking, wish there was a pause button!! Everyday when i get on to my blog to do the Tag i realise September is also drawing to a close!! .... And soon, we will be welcome Jan 2012...
Anyways, let me not go so far ahead.... I shall continue to live life a day at a time...

Today's theme is Trees, hmm.. for a minute i wasnt sure if i read it right, i looked at the image again, and again... and finally gave up!! Wonder what the person who created it was thinking, or not!! :D

I started looking through the images i had that matched the theme and found this one taken last year during our Kerala trip last Nov... 4 of us- high school friends had packed our bags and were off on a week long holiday to Kerala... What fun it was!!

I clicked this shot while on the house boat ride, which we each took turns steering as well. We do want to do another trip, maybe create a tradition of sorts, but logistics, dates seem to defeat us!

September Tag- Day 21- Pretty Pattern

As i walk along the corridor
of St Mary's Church [Armenian Street, Chennai]
I stare at the beautiful sculptures
and paintings on the walls
Some are of men
and other of women and children
The tiles on the floor seem so old
yet it shimmers

I reach the alter
and my eyes look up
they stay focussed
as if they have seen something mystical

Oh those patterns on the ceiling
Small and long lines
like little sparks
from the fireworks

The lines
all arranged so neatly
within the circle
like the sun
or maybe the moon....

September Tag- Day 20- what you read!

Books and i have such a strong bond, i doubt if ever there will be a day when i dont touch, read, enjoy one!In fact mom keeps harping on how it was reading that got me to wear Specs... She claims i used to read just about everywhere, and sometimes in poor light as well.. Oh,well, i aint complaining :)

Now, i read for fun, i read for work and i also read to write reviews.... So, the 3 books that are sitting on the bedside table are the following....

Yes, i am reading the Lonely Planet, this copy landed into my hands few days ago and since i have been bitten by the travel bug quite hard, i am curious to know what, where, when, and how... I do know there is a trip in the offing, and yes, i am excited about it... It is to a familiar city, but am going to explore some unexplored sites for sure!!

The other 2 books am reading for a review website!! They are as different as chalk and cheese and been long sitting without any attention... :-)

September Tag- Day 19- Where you slept

Hmmm, Its been one hellova Monday... Not that am complaining, i love Mondays! Normally, its the day when all i do is a bit of work, lots of follow ups and invariably catch a movie! Well, these past few weeks have been different.. I have been working little more than usual, and Mondays are spent at home, reading, or wattching a flick on the laptop!

After a few hours of crazy work- these days i think am setting and breaking new records of sending and receiving e-mails.. :-)  So, anyways, am taking a break and decided to sneak in a blog post before heading off to make Dosa for dinner...

So, the theme for today is "Where you slept".. Strange topic i must say!! Am gonna give you a glimpse of what i wake up to...

There is a pretty Chime that hangs on the ceiling- i had picked up in Delhi at the Dilli haat... A cute Butterfly chime which i've had since i was a baby and then ofcourse the wall hanging [magnet] that was a gift from friends...

September Tag- Day 18- In My Bag

Its Sunday and so far the weekend has been nothing but Work... not that am complaining!!  i did manage to sneak out for a bit of shopping at easy 2 wear and  Craft fair in Valluvar Kottam  [rather mom bought stuff at the fair, i was just ambling along]...  And today, am going to head out for a spot of shopping to Fast Fashions and the likes with a friend...

So, took this as a chance to clean out my bag and guess what i found-- A keychain that was a gift from a friend and a pair of earrings i thought i had misplaced [ya, right, like that can happen!!]

Have a fun Sunday!!

September Tag- Day 17- On the shelf

Wow, 18 days have gone by already in September... Damn, the day are flying by too fast for my liking.... Time to speed up, and do more in every coming day!!

Today's theme is On the shelf.. probably the easiest one for me! I dint have to blink an eyelid before zeroing in on what i was going to post for the day.. All i had to do was turn my head to the left, and pull out my camera and click....

I have nothing but books, and more books on my table... There is the Hard disk, a pen drive, a notebook i write in, and couple of other knick knacks, but most of the space is taken up by Books.... Some that i had bought to read, others that came in for the Book review, and some that were gifts.... I keep rotating them based on genre, and the mood am in... Maybe one day i shall share a pic of the book shelves brimming with books... :-)

Sitting proudly on top is the Lonely planet that i recently won on a contest on Twitter...

have a fun weekend all..

September Tag- Day 16- What you ate!

Today was Friday... Rather Today is Friday.... and  i wonder where the day went! its been a hectic few days, and today was no different.. had to step out to meet a friend who wanted some help with work, and we were out for a few hours. Towards the end, we ended up having a dosa and a kulfi... She wanted a Kachang [gola ice], but to wanted kulfi, and she ended up having both!! :D

I have had kulfis from when i was small, i still remember mom making the batter and then pouring it into the little cone like containers, freezing it and serving it in a cup with a spoon... And so, with time i have managed to try kulfi wherever i found it on the menu....

Today we had Dreams brand Kulfi- badam pista flavour.. Am not drawn towards Chocolate Kulfi, atleast not yet... :) It was yummy, delightful treat...

Tarot Reading

I do believe in astrology and Tarot readings.... Infact a few years ago, i got an online Tarot reading done and some of the things she said had me speechless.....

Anyways, today morning felt like snooping around the net to see if there were any Free online Tarot reading websites and voila, i did find one... -- Lotus Tarot.. Spent a few mins picking out 6 cards and waiting for the predictions to float in.. Here is what it said---

Universal 6 Card Spread

Card 1 (The Magician) : How you feel about yourself now  »
You feel a sense of purpose and the willpower to get things done. Self-empowerment is the key word here. Any new enterprises in love or career show great potential. You feel that you have the ability to think on your feet and, faced with opposition, the appearance of The Magician is an excellent omen of success. Time to believe in your self and go for it!

Card 2 (Justice) : What you most want at this moment  »
The cards suggest that what you most want at this time is for a fair and right outcome whether it concerns relationships or business affairs. You feel that you are in the right and that any decision or agreement to be made should be in your favour.

Card 3 (The Emperor) : Your fears  »
You are feeling that success is just around the corner but it feels elusive, just out of reach. You are concerned that the support and help that you want from your father, husband/partner or a man of significance in your life won't materialise. Trust and ask for the help you need, and success will be yours.

Card 4 (The Empress) : What is going for you  »
The harvest is here; you are entering an abundant time of happiness and joy. Creative energy is high so if you are considering starting a family, a new job or artistic endeavour this is a favourable time. Relax and enjoy.

Card 5 (The Tower) : What is going against you  »
However hard you try to control events they just won't go your way. Unexpected challenges, upheaval and disappointment will bring expectations to an end. Subconsciously you may have wanted a solution, you just didn't expect it to happen this way. Use this period of change as an opportunity for a new beginning. If you have been planning to move home you will be experiencing setbacks.
