Breakfast like a king.. remember that ? Well, at ITC hotels they have launched the Zesty Mornings, healthy twist to the breakfast spread and it is yummilicious & it is more than fit for the Royal.. About twenty five chefs have worked on this project and curated the dishes that are available as part of this breakfast spread. There are healthy ingredients, twist to traditional dishes, fruit puree, assortment of baked goods, sugar alternatives [Jaggery], grains and different kinds of rice as well.
There were different cheese, including Camembert cheese that had been soaked in red wine for a few days. Yoghurt based drinks, cold press juices sat along side the regular coffee/tea options. The amount of research that has gone into it is mind boggling, to ensure healthy ingredients have been cooked in such a way they are tasty & tempting, fresh fruits served with oats and seeds, ragi dosa with lip smacking range of chutneys and more. If you are into cereals, then try the new kind of cereals – ragi-cocoa granola, jowar with fig & dates, red rice & jaggery granola, and buckwheat almond granola , pair them with the different milk options [ Soya & Almond].
The green juice- ginger, celery, apple and kale was heavenly [not bitter at all] and so was the beet juice. While all the dishes were delicious and had a blend of textures, the highlight of the breakfast was Chakhao Poireiton [Black rice] Manipuri khichdi with green gram that was served in Khao suey style with an assortment of condiments like lime wedges, browned onions, coriander, mint, peanuts, onions and more. One spoonful of this and I was hooked, would have been happy with just a big bowl of this Khichdi.
Three or four of these dishes are served at the table, while remaining are part of the breakfast buffet at Madras Pavillion. You will find some of the usual dishes among these new ones. We spent a few hours here and by the time we left the hotel we were happy stuffed and talking about the various flavours and textures.
This breakfast is available daily between 7 am & 10.30 am.
Price: INR 1,350 plus taxes.
